This 10-module course provides the theoretical underpinning of occupational formulation, guides learners through drafting a formulation and goals, and provides guidance for getting started with occupational formulation in practice. The course workbook encourages reflection on learning and provides a written outline of content. A certificate is issued upon conpletion.
The Occupational Formulation Foundations Course is available within the following membership packages:
Module 1 takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
This module provides an introduction to the occupational formulation foundations course. Prior to commencing this course, it is recommended that participants complete the orientation mini course to become familiar with the learning platform.
Module 2 takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
This module defines and describes occupational formulation, and considers its place within the occupational therapy practice process.
Module 3 takes approximately 40 minutes to complete.
An occupational formulation has two main features (Parkinson & Brooks, 2021), which will be explored in the following lessons:
• Integration into a model
• Integration into a narrative
Module 4 takes approximately 35 minutes to complete.
This module explores the components of a MOHO-based occupational formulation. There are workbook tasks to be completed while watching the videos.
Module 5 takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete.
In this module, you'll draft an occupational formulation.
Module 6 takes about 50 minutes to complete.
This module focuses on how to negotiate measurable occupational goals based on the key occupational needs identified within the occupational formulation.
Module 7 takes about 30 minutes to complete.
In this module you'll draft measurable occupational goals following on from the occupational formulation drafted earlier.
Module 9 takes about 20 minutes to complete.
This module explores why occupational therapists might use occupational formulation within their practice.
Module 10 takes about 15 minutes to complete.
This module provides suggestions for starting to use occupational formulation within your practice.
